Hacked Again… (Update II: All Is Not Lost)

We’ve been hacked again. Sorry guys, but I’ll be spending the next day or two rectifying it (hopefully no longer than that), so no more posts until it’s done. In the meantime, I’ll post story and video links to our twitter feed so you can stay up to date on the latest news.

Update: When it rains, it pours. Soon after I started working on restoring the site, my computer completely crashed, like won’t boot Windows crashed. Thought I lost everything including clean versions of site and backups…at best, a major setback, at worst, catastrophic. To make a long story short, before I threw it out the window and set it on fire, I took it to the Geek Squad and they believe they can save it. I hope to have my computer back up sometime today or tomorrow. After that, I’ll start working on fixing the site again. I really hope to have everything back to normal in time for UFC 114, but a lot can go wrong, so I can’t make any promises.

Sorry guys, doing my best…

Update 2: Currently working on getting computer back up. Good news is they were able to put all the site files and backups on an external hard drive so all is not lost. If all goes well today, I’ll be able to start working on site tomorrow.

By the way, I’m still posting story links on the twitter feed in the meantime. Nothing too major has happened. Tito is having neck surgery, Chuck was pissed, thinks Tito knew all along he couldn’t fight. Bobby Lashley is out of SF: LA with knee injury. Thiago Alves has been cleared by his doctors to fight. Forrest Griffin had shoulder surgery, Sept. return at earliest. Dana White apparently killed it with his speech at the CEO Summit in Seattle. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said it “fired him up,” in a good way. Some of the execs from the Summit are even attending UFC 114. Links and more on Twitter.

Former CFL Commissioner To Head UFC Canada Division

The rumors were true…well, partially true. At a press conference earlier today, Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta announced the UFC will be opening a dedicated Canadian office in Toronto, however it won’t be run by anyone affiliated with the WWE. Instead, former Canadian Football League commissioner Tom Wright will head the new division.

Wright’s first priority will focus on getting the sport legalized and regulated in all of Canada, especially in the Ontario province where they’ll be setting up shop. Dana White wouldn’t confirm it, but word is they’re tentatively planning an event in March 2011 at the Roger Center in Toronto. Ideally, they hope to run three annual shows in Canada. Developing Canadian talent will also be a focus for the new division.

The Canada branch will resemble the UFC’s UK division, supporting 12-15 employees.

Greg Jackson: Rashad Prepared For Best Rampage We’ve Ever Seen

“You can’t go in thinking about that. It’s pointless. If he’s not the best Rampage ever, that will make our strategy that much better. If he’s Rampage as usual, then it’ll be business as usual. As soon as you can go in there and say, ‘Oh, Rampage had a year off,’ you get yourself in trouble. I think we’re going to run into the best Rampage we’ve ever seen and I hope that’s the case, because we have the best Rashad anyone has ever seen…We want to make sure that we’ve addressed all of the contingencies that can happen. Rampage is a powerful striker. He’s a pretty good wrestler. He’s a savvy veteran who knows when to relax a bit and then come right back. I have a lot of respect for him. However, I’m pretty confident in Rashad’s kickboxing ability. Rampage is an excellent boxer, it’s true, but Rashad is good as well and I’m always going to bet on my guy.”

—Greg Jackson on Sherdog Radio addressing why Rampage Jackson’s one-year layoff hasn’t affected Rashad Evan’s preparation

How prepared is Rampage Jackson for this fight? That seems to be the big question heading into this fight. If you ask Rampage and his camp, he’s never been in better shape. He’s never trained this hard for a fight. He’s never been so motivated in camp. The images coming out of  his final training sessions seem to support that but we won’t know for sure until that cage door closes Saturday night and Rampage and Rashad go at it. I’ve said all along I was picking Rashad because I didn’t think Rampage would come in firing on all cylinders. Now I’m not so sure.

Strikeforce: Los Angeles Trailer, Fedor To Attend

Fedor Emelianenko will be arriving in the states a little early for his fight against Fabricio Werdum on June 26. He’ll be attending the Strikeforce “Los Angeles” broadcast on June 16 and is scheduled to make an appearance at E3 for EA Sports MMA. Oh, and M-1 says it’s “categorically untrue” that they turned down a fight against Alistair Overeem on May 15. They’re open to discussing a fight with Overeem after Werdum.
